Once you’ve identified SLCN, what next?

Updated: Sep 17

What happens once you’ve identified SLCN and speech & language difficulties for a child you’re working with?

For many settings, the next step would be a referral to SALT. Which is fine…

BUT

NHS services are overstretched. There’s a 25% vacancy rate in the UK SALT workforce currently, so a quarter of available SALT jobs are empty.

This means waiting lists are reaaaaallllly long. You could be waiting up to a year for the child to be seen.

I think that there’s a better step that you can take. Here’s a short video from me to tell you a little more.

Training is your answer.

Each person on your staff team can have their own login access to my online training courses which cover all areas of speech, language and communication needs in my training package for schools or my early years training package if you're in an EYFS setting.

The CPD training courses are all online and available instantly and all under 4 hours so they can be followed at your own pace and completed in an afternoon.

💛 So that you and your colleagues can understand how to support the children in your class and differentiate any work and activities as required.

💛 So that you can deliver targeted support and interventions to the children who need it

💛 So that you can maximise the progress of the children in your setting and help them to reach their potential.

If you’d like to know more about my training or would like to get your setting enrolled onto one of my training packages, send me an email and we’ll get you started.
